About Mekina

My name is Aren Akian. I’m a developer, digital artist and audio engineer working and living in Los Angeles.

I studied Interdisciplinary Computing Arts and Media, Music, at the University of California, San Diego. I have worked in music studios as a freelance audio engineer and producer for many years. Armed with a background in Computer Science, specifically audio DSP, I founded Mekina to create tools that enhance the creative and technical processes for musicians and audio professionals.

My first product, ABSeq, embodies these principles: it solves a core need in my own professional and creative workflow, a simpler way to A/B test music on the go.

My second, Freekick ’97, is a game. It’s a free-kick challenge for iPhone, iPad and Mac, with a physics-driven ball, a keeper who learns your habits and a story told on sixteen video tapes.
